The visit from the Colonel was a huge favorite by many folks at the Clinton July 3rd Celebration.
Take a real close look....it is our very own Johnny Miller from the Class of 73.
Johnny and his twin sister Bonny left Clinton during their sophomore year.
It was great to see them both!

Fountain on Mr. Lincoln Square is complete and running!!!!

If you are ever in town visiting or just cruising around Mr. Lincoln Square in downtown Clinton, be sure to check out the fountain.  The fountain was designed by our very own Class of 73 Patrick Peterson.  The completion of the fountain took place over the Memorial Day weekend.  It is made out of granite and sits in a pool with sheets of water coming over the top of the lit up faces. Each cube is incorporated into the history of Clinton.  Peterson says the fountain is his contribution to the city and fulfilling his civil duty. Thanks Patrick!!!

GRADUATION CLASS OF 1973 JUNE 1, 1973

THIRTY EIGHT YEARS AGO TODAY The Class of 1973 graduated from Clinton High School.  We were the first class to graduate from the new building, and therefor, graduation was a little different this year.   There were 149 graduates.  it seemed to go faster this time but maybe that was becasue we were the ones graduating.  Many of the mid-term graduates came back to attend the formal ceremonies with the rest of the class.  Several of our class hadd graduated earlier and were already working and attending other schools.  The graduation exercises were crowded with all the seats on the floor taken, and most of the bleachers filled.
The program included songs by the band and chorus, and special number requested by the senior class by Sara Jenkins "O Bless the Lord My Soul."  The welcoming address was given by Maureen Krueser.

Chris Weikel, our class president, then looked by on our four years in high school.

Paul Gregor as student council president gave his thoughts on the council accomplishment this last year.
Mr Futrell was the main speaker of the evening.  He admonished us to look ahead and fulfill our goals.  The diplomas were then awarded by Mr. Carl Troxel, the school board president.  The class then sang the traditional "Alma Mater" and turned their tassels.

PROM 1973 REFLECTIONS

Prom is this weekend at CCHS and it made me stop to think about our prom of 1973.....and boy have things changed.
"Reflections" was the theme for the 1973 Junior-Senior Prom.  Once again the junior class worked hard to earn the money to pay for the prom.  The juniors sponsored the refreshment stand at the football and basketball games.  They faced a problem decorating this year.
Thanks to all Class of 1974...great job!

The dance was held in the commons, so the kids had to wait till Friday after school to start decorating.  The decorations included a mirror entrance and a reflecting pond in the center.  Many couples enjoyed the "Spoon River" band from St. Louis.  The sophomore girls helped served the cookies and punch prepared by the junior class.
OR WAS THAT SPIKED PUNCH THAT WAS SERVED?

OUR LEADERS!!!

THIS IS OUR JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL

THEY ARE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Just wanted to share that William"Junior" Myers, 83, passed away Feb 14 at his residence in Clinton....he was the owner of the gas station across from the Star Station in our school daze! What was the name of the gas station?  It was Phillips 66 but most people just called in Junior's Gas Station.

The old high school on the courtyard side...this pic was in our 1970 yearbook with the following caption....VICTORY On the fourth attempt, our school referendum finally carried by majority vote. This achievement was due to the interested citizens and students. Before and on October 7th many committees and programs were set-up to inform the general public: Student Council sponsored a rally, the art classes made badges and posters, store owners consented to have posters in their windows, F.T.A. members called the voting citizens, government classes provided transportation to the polls and mothers walked door-to-door to inform the townspeople. Yes, the passing of the referendum was truly a well deserved victory.
